France's First Modern Gin
Citadelle Gin holds a special place in gin history as the first modern French gin, founded in 1996 at the Château de Bonbonnet in the Cognac region of France. Distilled in small batches in a traditional Charentais copper pot still — the same type used to make Cognac — Citadelle is crafted with 19 botanicals from around the world, including juniper that grows wild across from the château itself.
