Gryphon & Grain Bourbon takes its name from the mythology behind California itself — the 16th century novel about Califa, the mythical queen of an island thought to be the garden of Eden, from whose name "California" is derived. Queen Califa's army of 500 gryphons — legendary creatures with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle, known for guarding treasure — inspired the brand. A bourbon that comes off nearly sweet but is beautifully balanced: powerful, yet gracefully gentle.
