BenRiach The Smoky Ten is the peated counterpart to The Original Ten — and proof that BenRiach is one of the very few Speyside distilleries with the rare capability and heritage to produce exceptional peated single malts. While Speyside is traditionally associated with light, fruity, unpeated whiskies, BenRiach has been distilling peated spirit since the early 20th century, and The Smoky Ten showcases that tradition at its most approachable and expressive.

Matured for 10 years in a combination of ex-bourbon barrels, virgin oak casks, and ex-sherry hogsheads — the same triple-cask approach used across the BenRiach core range — The Smoky Ten layers the distillery's signature fruity sweetness with a gentle, well-integrated peat smoke that is distinctly Speyside in character: softer and more fragrant than Islay, with an earthiness and warmth all its own.

The nose is inviting and layered — sweet orchard fruit and vanilla cream are threaded with wisps of gentle smoke, toasted oak, and a hint of heather. On the palate, it's beautifully balanced: ripe apple, toffee, and honey are met by a soft, earthy peat smoke and a warming spice from the virgin oak, creating a whisky that is simultaneously sweet and smoky without either character dominating. The finish is medium-length, clean, and gently smoky — vanilla, dried fruit, and a lingering peaty warmth fading gracefully.
