Compass Box The Spice Tree Blended Malt Scotch Whisky 750ml
Compass Box The Spice Tree is one of the most celebrated and distinctive expressions in the Compass Box portfolio — a blended malt with a fascinating and somewhat rebellious history. When John Glaser first created The Spice Tree using French oak inner staves inserted into ex-bourbon casks to dramatically amplify wood spice character, the Scotch Whisky Association banned the technique as non-traditional. Undeterred, Glaser reformulated the whisky using heavily toasted French oak cask heads instead — a legal alternative that achieves the same remarkable result: a whisky of extraordinary spice, richness, and complexity.
A blended malt built primarily around Highland single malts — with Clynelish at its heart — The Spice Tree is matured in a combination of ex-bourbon casks with custom French oak cask heads, which impart an intense vanilla, cinnamon, and clove character that is unlike anything else in the blended malt category. The nose is immediately arresting and deeply inviting — warm cinnamon, vanilla cream, and toasted coconut, with layers of ripe orchard fruit, dark honey, and a gentle floral sweetness. On the palate, it's full-bodied and richly spiced: butterscotch, clove, nutmeg, and dark fruit build with a luscious, almost creamy texture and a depth that rewards every sip. The finish is long, warm, and beautifully spiced — cinnamon, vanilla, dried fruit, and a gentle oak warmth fading in a slow, satisfying wave.
A whisky born from rebellion and refined by craft — The Spice Tree is Compass Box at its most bold and most brilliant.
